Patricia Ward MSW, RSW
Hi, I’m Patricia. I’m a parent of two adult children on the autism spectrum and have spent more than 30 years working in the disability field, including 13 years supporting families directly. My professional background includes work in day programs, group homes, case management, child protection, family support services, social welfare services, crisis counselling, mental health counselling, family clinical services, the education system, college instruction, accessibility advising, and career and vocational counselling.
I have studied marriage and family therapy, social work, education, and disability studies, and I bring both professional knowledge and lived experience into my work. As someone who is neurodivergent myself, I understand many of the challenges that can come with traditional therapy and trying to fit into systems and environments that were not designed with neurodivergent people in mind.
My approach is flexible, practical, and person-centered. I believe in meeting clients where they are at, both emotionally and literally. Sessions can take place virtually, in clients’ homes, or in community settings. Depending on your needs and comfort level, we may incorporate movement, walks, art, music, sensory supports, or even pets into sessions.
I work with individuals and families in Winnipeg and surrounding areas throughout eastern and southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg, Steinbach, Morris, St. Pierre-Jolys, St. Malo, Oakbank, Beausejour, Ste. Anne and Anola, as well as the nearby communities.
